I'm attorney C. Timothy Murphy III and I'm the founding member of Murphy's Law, LLC. Through the firm, I focus on advising business owners on legal and tax matters. As a small business owner myself, I understand the concerns that you have and the issues that you face. I feel that legal representation should not be a luxury reserved only for the wealthy. I have made it my mission to make legal representation affordable and obtainable for everyone that needs it. I take pride in operating the firm efficiently in order to minimize overhead costs so that I can provide affordable legal services to those in need.
I also focus on representing real estate entrepreneurs and homeowners on all aspects of their investments. I understand the nuances and realities of the local market. I work with my clients to understand their needs and goals and assist them in understanding all their options. This allows us to throughly assess the situation and find pragmatic and creative solutions.
Also, I provide tax planning and preparation services to my clients. Poor tax planning can cost you thousands of dollars. I offer my knowledge and expertise to the public so that you can minimize your tax burdens and keep more of what you've earned. In effort to provide this service to everyone who needs it, I don't charge "attorney rates" for tax issues. In most cases, flat-fees are available based on the forms that need to be prepared and filed.
Previously, I've interned with the Transactional Law Clinic at Cleveland-Marshall's College of Law. This Law Clinic provides low-cost or free legal representation to community development corporations and urban development clients in and around Cleveland, Ohio. While with the Clinic, I researched and interpreted the law surrounding tax-exempt status for non-profit corporations and advised clients on how to properly achieve and maintain their tax-exempt status. I also assisted the Clinic's clients in business disputes and contract litigation.
I graduated cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law with a law degree and from John Carroll University with a degree in accountancy. While in law school, I was one of twelve students invited to compete at the national level in the Law Student Tax Challenge in front of a panel composed of U.S. Tax Court judges, IRS Office of Chief Counsel attorneys, and partners of major tax firms. I received this invitation based on written analysis of the tax implications of a complex real estate transaction and proposals on the best course of action.
While I have chosen to focus primarily on these areas of law, I have worked with numerous other areas of law and I can and do provide legal services in other areas too. My biggest strength as an attorney is not my experience in any particular area of law, but the level of service I provide to my clients through detailed approaches to solving their problems or avoiding them before they ever happen. I also maintain a network of other attorneys and tax professionals in the event that a matter requires some outside expertise. If I can't handle your legal and tax needs, I'll refer you to someone that can.
